Aideen Barry is a Visual Artist based in the west of Ireland. Aideen is known nationally and internationally for her practise as a contemporary artist. Her work has won numerous awards including the COE Award, the Project New Work Award from the Arts Council of Ireland, the Silent Light Film Award from the Cork Film Centre, Best Experimental Work 2011 from San Francisco International Animation Festival, and in 2010 she was shortlisted for the prestigious AIB prize. Aideen is known not only for her practise as a visual artist but also for her role as advocate for the Visual Arts in Ireland. She lectures in GMIT and Limerick School of Art & Design. She has experience collaborating with fellow artists with learning, intellectual or mental health disabilities:
2008: Collaboration with Carrowbeg Theatre Company, Westport, on the “Word’s are my Prisoner” project
2009: Collaboration with Bee Hive and Scannan Technologies on the moving image project “Happiness”.
2012: Collaboration with the Away With Words Collective, on the Jessica Casey & Other Works printed publication and video project.
